Eucled Moore was born in 1955 in Abilene, Texas. His father was a Baptist minister. When
Eucled was 13 years old his family moved to Tanzania to work as missionaries.
While in East Africa he attended a boarding school for the children of missionaries
located in the Rift Valley of Kenya. It was in wood shop at this school that
Eucled first worked on the lathe. The lathe quickly became his favorite machine
in the shop.

When Eucled graduated
from high school in 1973 he returned to the United States to enroll in Baylor
University in Waco, Texas. After two years at Baylor he left the university
to go to work. One of his first jobs was doing production turning of candleholders
and lamps out of mesquite for a small company in Texas. He eventually went to
work in the construction industry in Houston. Eucled started doing general carpentry
but quickly moved to doing cabinetry and furniture for a company there in Houston.
In 1984 he moved to Austin and continued building cabinets and furniture as
an independent contractor. During this time in the construction industry Eucled
continued to turn for fun and the occasional furniture part.

In 1986 Eucled read
an article about segmented turning and decided to give it a try. Up until this
time, he had only done turning between centers. This was his first time to turn
using a faceplate. This was the start of a new career turning segmented bowls
and vases. Soon Eucled started to sell his turnings in galleries across the
southwest part of the US. As the turnings began to sell Eucled did less and
less cabinetry until he was turning full time. In 1989 he was making his living
solely from his turnings. In this same year Eucled moved his shop from Austin
to a small colonial town in the mountains of central Mexico called San Miguel
de Allende. He continues to live and work in San Miguel and sells his work in
the United States.
